Story
I've somehow managed to sign myself up to another marathon! This time the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromsø, Norway on 22 June 2024. Running 26.2 miles!
The marathon starts at 8pm and because Tromsø is so far north of Norway, it'll still be daylight when I finish (hopefully!) around midnight.
I did the London marathon back in 2019 but don't do so much running now, focusing instead on the gym - but I'm hoping my 2019 running legs will still be with me on race day - 5 years older and about 10kg heavier!
And of course I'm doing all of this to fundraise for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of my amazing Dad, Ray Walker who sadly passed away in 2019 to pancreatic cancer, at just 59 years old and only 6 weeks after diagnosis. This run is for you Dad.
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case.
Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
