Story
I lost my grandmother, Anita Bruk-Jackson, in 2019 after nearly 20 years of battling Alzheimer's disease. Her decline was gradual and heart-wrenching. We watched as she slowly lost her sense of self, her memories slipping away, and her ability to recognize and connect with us diminishing. Each day brought new challenges, from navigating her confusion to managing her care, which took a toll on my entire family (especially my mother).
In her honor, I am aiming to raise £10,000 by participating in a Full Ironman event in Brazil on June 1, 2025. I am fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK, the leading dementia research charity in the UK.
Dementia is a relentless thief that steals not only memories but also precious moments with loved ones. By raising funds through this event, I hope to help prevent other families from enduring the same struggles that my family went through.
Your donation will support scientists and researchers as they work tirelessly to diagnose dementia, develop treatments, and ultimately find a cure. Together, we can change the story for those affected by dementia.
