Walking from Pendeford to Birmingham · 21 July 2023

People who are homeless are hit especially hard by the coronavirus outbreak. But together we can get vital care to vulnerable people.

Story

What comes to mind when you think about a ‘home’? For the lucky ones, it’s more than just a roof over our heads - it’s our safe space, somewhere we can welcome friends and family, making it easier to succeed, and allows us to put roots down in a community. Having a home is a fundamental human need and the stable foundation we all need to build lives.

Shockingly, it's estimated that over 227,000 families and individuals across the UK are facing the worst forms of homelessness, and almost 2 million households are living with poor conditions, such as mould, damp and overcrowding. The reasons vary, but mainly it’s the result of a combination of low incomes, the pressures of housing unaffordability - exacerbated by an undersupply of social rented housing in the places they’re most needed, and barriers to accessing the limited supply of decent, affordable homes in the private rented sector.

A small group of us are going to walk 16 miles from our Pendeford offices to our Birmingham Colmore row office to raise awareness for this worthy course.

Please give as much as you can to help support those in need to end homelessness is Helping Britain Prosper.
