Story
On the 28th of March 2025, our son Dilan Khurana suddenly passed away at the age of 16. As a family, it felt like a bomb had gone off in our home and blown us all apart. We are devastated by the loss of such a bright, happy, healthy, and spiritual young man, who lived his life thinking about the state of the world, nature, and the part he could play in making it better. He was also a passionate runner who loved running the Parkrun every week.
Every year, on the first Saturday of September, we plan to run the Parkrun at Gunnersbury Park in Ealing. We will strive to honour his memory and raise money for causes which were either close to his heart or have been valuable for us as a family as we deal with the trauma of suddenly losing a child.
This year, we have chosen to fundraise for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. As a children’s charity, they provide clinical and holistic care to families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement. They have been our lifeline, providing treatment and continuing counselling, helping us to navigate forwards.
If you can’t come to Ealing, we ask you to join us by running, walking, or jogging at any Parkrun near you. Parkrun is a free, weekly, 5K community event in parks all around the UK and globally. Please go to parkrun.com to register.
If you can help us by fundraising for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices this year, you will be helping us keep this charity going and supporting other families and children when they need it most.
