On 23 April 2026, the Grandchildren of Brian Page are setting off on a challenge in honour of their beloved Grampy. Alex, Sophie, and Thomas, joined by Sophie’s friend Serena and Thomas’ partner Till, will take on the National Three Peaks Challenge and climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), 23-miles in three stages, total ascent of 3064 metres, aiming to complete all three within in three days. And not to forget our world-class support crew of Jackie and Chris Page, who will be in charge of driving, not just the mini-bus but energy levels and team morale!

Brian was a lover of the outdoors, whether it was walking, cycling or running. He spent the majority of his time out in the countryside enjoying and competing in Ultra Marathons, Marathons, Triathlons, Orienteering, Hillwalking and Mountain Climbing. You name it, he’d given it a go and succeeded at it as well. He was, and is, a huge inspiration to all who met him.

Sophie, Alex and Tom spoke to their Grampy in advance of setting a date and he shared stories of his adventures scaling the three peaks, the hope was to complete the challenge and share more stories together. Sadly this is no longer possible.

Brian passed away peacefully on 20 January at home with his three sons Chris, Adrian and Martin. He had been ill with Bowel and Bladder Cancer for several years and latterly diagnosed with Dementia.

This challenge is our way of feeling close to Brian and undertaking a challenge we feel befitting of our hero, who regularly completed long distance, extreme and endurance events ‘just for fun’.

Our challenge will be self-funded but we do want to take the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Dementia Oxfordshire. The team at Dementia Oxfordshire have provided vital care and support to Brian and the Page family, helping to navigate memory loss and changes in everyday behaviour. With their support Brian was able to spend his final months in comfort, at home and surrounded by his loved ones.
