Our charity supports those with Cystic Fibrosis, their families and specialist CF centres. We exist to; provide hardship and welfare grants, emotional support, essential medical and physio equipment, and fund the training of CF nurses to provide a better quality of life for those with CF.

Story

In January we lost our darling nephew Charlie York. He was 20 years old.

Many of you knew Charlie but for those of you who didn’t, he was quite the most extraordinary human - we were so lucky to be his aunt and uncle. Charlie was the kindest, bravest soul we have known and had the best laugh ever (he was also very naughty!). There is not a day that goes by when we don’t miss him.

On August 4th we are going to undertake the 200 miles Coast to Coast Walk. This will take us from the Irish Sea at St Bees in Cumbria across the Lake District, The Pennines, and North Yorkshire Moors to end up, 12 days later, by the North Sea in Robin Hoods Bay, Yorkshire.

If our dodgy middle age knees allow us to make it, we will have averaged about 16 miles a day and an elevation change of more than 10,000m in total. We are hoping the various Inns and B&Bs en-route have baths and comfy beds.

Happily, most days we will be joined by family and friends, who knew Charlie, so there will be plenty of time for reminiscing as well as enjoying the spectacular scenery – and local beer!

But it would be remiss of us to undertake such a challenge without trying to raise as much money as possible in Charlie’s memory for the charity Cystic Fibrosis Care which was founded by my brother and sister-in-law Christy & Sash after Charlie’s bilateral lung transplant at Great Ormond Street.

We are very aware that there are constant requests for sponsorship and that money is tight especially over the summer holidays! But if you do sponsor us your money will be directly helping families who are impacted by this devasting, hereditary and incurable disease.

Cystic Fibrosis Care helps families and individuals with support grants, training for nurses and essential equipment and refurbishment projects that the NHS is unable to fund. Every penny raised makes the lives of families dealing with CF a little bit better.
