Story

On the 13th August 2024, my lovely mum received the devastating news that she had Stage 3 Breast Cancer.

For the last year she has been undergoing treatment, involving chemotherapy, a mastectomy and radiotherapy.

She has been an absolute inspiration throughout, taking it all completely in her stride and is now recovering well, but that doesn’t change the fact that seeing someone you love battle cancer is incredibly difficult.

Over the past year we’ve laughed, cried (a lot), walked, talked - but for me, running has been my therapy.

That’s why in April 2026 I will be running two marathons in two weeks, starting with Paris Marathon on the 12th April and finishing with my second attempt at the London Marathon on the 26th April, with the aim to raise as much money as I can for The Institute of Cancer Research (IRC), a world-leading cancer research institute who make discoveries that defeat cancer.

The IRC have discovered many cancer-related genes and have revolutionised radiotherapy to make it more targeted, with fewer side effects. They discover more new cancer drugs than any other academic centre in the world.

1 in 2 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, but thanks to the IRC’s research, cancer survival in the UK has doubled in the last 50 years, with 50% of people going on to live for 10 or more years following their diagnosis.

Please join me in supporting the IRC’s vital research, which will help many people like my mum who are diagnosed with cancer, to beat it.

Thank you x
