Ottawa Therapy Dogs strives to create a healthier community, one therapy dog visit at a time. Through our canine-assisted interventions, our volunteer handlers work with their own dogs to provide comfort and relief to individuals struggling with personal challenges.

Story

My name is Avery and I am in grade 5. In this grade at my school, students do a project that they are passionate about. My passion is dogs so I am doing my project on service dogs. Service dogs are dogs that have jobs to help people. The three main types of service dogs that I've focused on are therapy dogs, police dogs, and guide dogs. For example, therapy dogs calm people down and spread happiness to those that need it!

After the research portion of this project, students have to do an action to spread awareness. I have chosen to do a fundraiser for a charity in Canada that supports therapy dogs.

To show my own commitment, I will walk a dog for 1km for every $100 donated. My teacher mentor has also agreed to match my walk with her dog! My fundraising goal is to raise $5 for each student that attends my school.

Thank you so much for donating to my fundraiser for these dogs with jobs!
