🌅 Sunrise to Sunset C&CR Team Challenge! 🌅

We are excited to announce the C&CR Team Challenge to support Crisis and help Setareh Zamani in reaching her target for the pending 100km Trek of The Sahara Desert! 🏜️

Event Details:

✨Route: Milngavie to Balmaha

✨Date: 10th September

✨Time: Sunrise (06:39) to Sunset (19:47)

✨Distance: 20 miles (approx 33km)

The C&CR Team will be completing this activity from sunrise to sunset, mirroring the conditions expected in the Sahara 🏜️

This challenging trek will not only prepare Setareh beyond expectations for the Sahara but will also be a test of our endurance and commitment personally and as a team 💪🏽

The trek from Milngavie to Balmaha is a demanding 23 mile hike that includes climbing Conic Hill for breathtaking views of Loch Lomond 🤩

Completing this walk in a single day requires good fitness and stamina. We will be prepared for varied terrain, potential muddy paths, and a significant elevation gain with all the gear and hopefully some idea 😉

We would like you to join us in this incredible journey and help us support a great cause as we will be sharing pictures live and direct so you can see how we are getting on 📸

Your support will make a significant difference and will go along way in helping Crisis continue their vital work. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal 🫶🏽

Together, we can make a significant impact and bring hope to those in need and who are vulnerable ❤️

Personal Details for Setareh …

Join Me on an Epic Journey Across the Sahara Desert!

I am thrilled to announce that I will be embarking on a 5-day trek across the vast and stunning Sahara Desert, covering an incredible 100km in distance. This challenging journey is not just about pushing my limits but also about making a real difference.

I am raising funds to support Crisis and the Simon Community in Northern Ireland, organisations dedicated to helping end homelessness in the UK for good—a cause that is very close to my heart ❤️.

Over the coming weeks and months, keep an eye out for updates and events taking place to help me reach my personal goal of £4,000!

This trek will test me both physically and mentally, requiring a robust training plan to prepare for trekking 100km over the course of 5 days in the heat and varied terrain. There will be no electricity, and water will be limited due to being in the middle of the desert 🏜️.

Your support means the world to me and will go a long way in helping Crisis continue their vital work. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal. Together, we can make a significant impact and bring hope to those in need and who are vulnerable.

Thank you for your generosity and encouragement 💗💗💗

I can’t wait to share my experience later in the year 💫

More details about the Trek…

This five day trek covers 100km passing through Morocco’s forbidding landscape punctuated by peaks, gorges, dunes and oases. At night, sleep under Africa’s star strewn skies and enjoy traditional Berber hospitality.

This challenge goes beyond the Jebel Saghro region, starting on the Maider El Kbir plateau, before ascending Jebel El Mrakib, and admiring the stunning views. Walking through palm gorges, the route joins the dry Rhris River and heads towards an oasis of tamarisk trees. The final days are spent trekking along the Tikertouachene River, before celebrating a successful end to the challenge in Ouarzazate.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY

The Sahara Desert Trek is graded as challenging:

• Trekking between 17-27km per day.

• Trekking a total distance of 100 kms over 5 days.

• Suffering exhausting temperatures during the day and freezing at night.

• Punishing your feet over hard, rocky terrain and hot sand.

• Camping each night with very basic facilities

This trek is challenging, unforgiving, and life-changing!

Why This Trek Matters - Supporting Crisis UK

Right now, over 250,000 families and individuals in the UK are facing the harsh realities of homelessness, from sofa surfing and sleeping rough to living in unsuitable temporary accommodations. Even more heartbreaking, over 145,000 children are recorded as homeless – a staggering 15% increase in just one year.

A home is a fundamental human need, and Lloyds Banking Group and Crisis share the belief that everyone deserves a safe and secure place to call home. Since April 2023, we’ve partnered with Crisis and Simon Community in Northern Ireland to help end homelessness for good. Thousands of our colleagues have already joined this mission, raising an incredible £3m+ for Crisis and Simon Community.

This is an incredible achievement but we can't stop here. More people than ever across the UK are facing homelessness and are in need of our support.

Our partnership is making a real difference by improving access to truly affordable housing. We’ve helped Crisis launch Good Place Lettings, a new social enterprise lettings agency that creates more access to affordable accommodation. We’ve also scaled up Crisis' Changing Lives Programme, supporting people who have experienced homelessness to further their education or start their own businesses.

This ambitious partnership aims to provide high-quality, affordable homes and tailored support to help those who have experienced homelessness rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.

Homelessness is not inevitable – together, we can end it.

Thank you so much for supporting my fundraising.
