Story
I’ve been working with Laura Jones as her assistant for the last 6 months. Laura has Stargardt’s Macular Dystrophy, a degenerative condition that fragments and distorts her vision. It has a fundamental impact on all aspects of her life, the blind spots and the impairing of her visual field revoked Laura of her driving licence, it effects her ability to recognise faces, text and important detail. It robs people of their independence and stops individuals from being able to do the simple things we all take for granted every day.
She told me a few months ago that she has a place for someone every year in the London Marathon supporting Fight For Sight, the leading charity funding those suffering with sight loss in the UK.
Seeing Laura endeavour through such challenging circumstances acts as an everlasting flow of inspiration for me. I am running the 2024 London Marathon to honour her, and everyone else facing the challenges of sight loss in the UK.
