2025 Challenges for MS-UK

Me again.... 👋
Another Year? Another Set Of Crazy Challenges? Of Course!
Somehow, almost 20 years after I started, I’ve found myself signed up for my 60th marathon — and not just any marathon, but the shiny new 7th Abbott World Marathon Major in Sydney! I'll be one of only a small few running to complete this achievement, having collected all 6 stars a few years back.
But that’s not all — I’m also riding a full stage of the Tour de France this year and taking on an "Everesting" challenge on my bike. That’s 8,848m of climbing in one go — the height of Mount Everest, just in case that sounds like a fun Sunday ride. (Spoiler: it’s not.)
Why? Because I’m stubborn, slightly unhinged when it comes to endurance events, and most importantly — I’m passionate about using my platform to raise awareness and funds for MS-UK, a small but mighty charity that supports those living with multiple sclerosis. They don’t have big advertising budgets or famous faces — just a dedicated team doing incredible work, and I’m determined to help give them the exposure they deserve. Having lost my mum to this condition several years ago I have witnessed first hand the incredible support and care they offer as a charity.
Now, full disclosure: training isn’t quite what it used to be. I’m 41, I've had shoulder surgery this year (turns out humans weren’t meant to be indestructible) and I’ve got a new boss at home — a one-year-old who’s currently training me in the fine art of sleep deprivation. So let’s just say the “elite athlete” lifestyle is now fuelled more by coffee than carb-loading.
But the mission remains the same: keep pushing, keep fundraising, and keep making noise for MS-UK. If you can support me — whether it’s a donation, a share, or just a few words of encouragement — I’d be truly grateful. Every pound raised goes to a charity that punches far above its weight and honours the memory of my mother Jane who passed away from a similar condition 10 years ago.
Thanks for reading. Let’s make some noise for MS-UK and maybe even raise a few eyebrows in Sydney while we’re at it! 🇦🇺🚴♂️🏃♂️💜
