Seventy for Sophie · 17 May 2024

In April 2013, The Boom Foundation was set up and it remains the only charity in NI dedicated to supporting patients suffering from sarcoma, a rare form of bone and soft tissue cancer. 50% of funds raised go to Sarcoma UK towards vital research; the rest supports those affected by sarcoma in NI.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Bob Burns. I recently celebrated my 70th birthday and I have decided to cycle 70 miles to help raise funds for “Sophie’s Clinical Nurse Specialist” in conjunction with the Boom Foundation, to support my good friends Allen and Katy Mathewson who lost their daughter Sophie to osteosarcoma. Sophie was diagnosed at 16 years of age and sadly passed away aged 18 on 16th of April 2021.

“Sophie’s Clinical Nurse Specialist” will provide care and support to sarcoma patients across Northern Ireland. The post is invaluable and will make a huge difference to sarcoma cancer patients throughout their sarcoma journey. All and any donations are very gratefully received.
