Story
On the 7th of July, I'm attempting to run the entire length of the river Severn in a single week, completing seven marathons in seven consecutive days. The river Severn is the longest river in Great Britain, springing from the source high in the Welsh hills and flowing 300km along the border to the Severn estuary. This epic challenge will take me from the source of the river Severn high in the Welsh hills, following the river through Shrewsbury, Worcester, and Gloucester before finishing at the mouth of the river in view of the majestic Severn suspension bridge.
Along the way, to keep my spirits aloft, a number of friends are joining me for sections of the run (although I couldn't quite find as many as seven people crazy enough to join me). Not least is PA's own Alex Thorn, who is his joining me on day one to run his first ever marathon.
On this adventure, we'll be raising money for the The PA Foundation, an independent charity expanding access to quality education, skills, and careers, particularly in STEM-related fields. Your donations will help to address the underlying barriers holding people from disadvantaged backgrounds back.
The PA Foundation believes that every person should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. It works to break down socio-economic barriers and develop and inspire people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through its work with a number of charitable organisations, it is providing students with high-quality tools and resources, developing essential life skills, and building networks with advisors and mentors to guide them on their educational and career journeys.
