I’m taking on the 400,000 Step Challenge for Breakthrough T1D
Over 400,000 people in the UK are living with type 1 diabetes, including our 6-year-old daughter. For her, life means endless blood checks, injections, technology, alarms, and medication — all just to stay alive. For us as her parents, it means sleepless nights, constant worry, and countless hours spent managing a condition that never takes a break.
This is the reality for every family living with type 1. That’s why we’re determined to raise money — to fund the research that could lead to better treatments and, one day, maybe even a cure. To make sure no newly diagnosed family ever feels alone. And to raise awareness, so symptoms are spotted earlier and lives can be saved.
By taking on 400,000 steps, I’m walking not just for my daughter, but for every child, adult, and family living with type 1 diabetes.
Here’s how your donation could make a difference:
£11 could give a newly diagnosed child a cuddly friend called Rufus the Bear, who has type 1 too. Rufus helps children practise their injections and shows them they’re not alone.
£25 could provide an hour of vital research nurse support for someone in a clinical trial — essential for finding the next big breakthrough.
£100 could fund screening for one person, helping to spot type 1 early and prevent dangerous complications.
Whatever you give, big or small, will make a real impact. Together, we can bring hope for the future and work towards a world where children like our daughter don’t have to live with type 1 diabetes forever.
From our family to yours — thank you for helping us keep hope alive 💙
