On Saturday 22nd August, I’ll be taking on a hike at Carding Mill Valley to raise money for the Cancer Centre at Heartlands Hospital — a place that supports so many people and families through some of the hardest times of their lives.

The money raised will go towards purchasing a sensory toys trolley for patients undergoing treatment, including chemotherapy. These sensory toys may seem small, but they can make an enormous difference. They help relieve anxiety, manage pain, distract the mind during long and difficult treatments, and bring moments of comfort and calm in an otherwise overwhelming hospital environment.

For children and adults facing cancer treatment, fear and uncertainty can become part of everyday life. Something as simple as a sensory toy can help restore a sense of normality, provide emotional comfort, and even bring a smile during the darkest moments.

No one chooses this journey, but together we can help make it a little easier for those fighting every single day.
