Men's Day Out is back this March! Just think, if every single participant commits to raising £100, the event will deliver enough collectively for St Luke's to provide the equivalent care for more than 100 families at home. Wouldn't that be amazing?

Story

I’m participating in the "St Luke's Men's Day Out 2026" event on March 14, 2026, in memory of my late father, who bravely fought against cancer. Although St Luke’s wasn’t his primary care provider, their end-of-life care team was nothing short of fantastic. They ensured he was comfortable and pain-free during his final days. It is crucial to raise funds for these charities because every end-of-life care team deserves our support and appreciation.

My father played a significant role in shaping who I am today. After separating from my mother, he left his job as a train painter to raise five children on his own. Despite the challenges, we never went without; he would take us swimming every Tuesday while enjoying a moment of peace with a pint. Our trips to the chippy on the way home were cherished family moments. He had an incredible ability to make meals from nothing, always ensuring we were fed.

He was a stubborn man who believed he was invincible. He survived a stomach aneurysm after emergency surgery and hours later was sitting up, downplaying the seriousness of it all with laughter. However, as time passed, his body began to fail him due to DVT and terminal cancer. He fought valiantly until the very end when he peacefully slipped away in his sleep.

I am taking on this challenge not just for myself but in honor of my father’s legacy and the love he shared with us all. I kindly ask for your support in raising £100 for St Luke's Men's Day Out 2026 so that we can continue to provide essential care for those who need it most.
