Story
Lucy and I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 6th April 2025 in aid of Aching Arms.
Many of you will not be aware of our journey of starting a family. This was always a very private story for us and one we hoped we would finally share with a happy ending. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for us. After numerous attempts of IUI we finally had the best news that we were expecting, without giving too much detail this pregnancy ended up in a miscarriage which was unbelievably devastating for us both. After waiting for our minds and bodies to heal we made the decision to give it another go, this resulted in another successful pregnancy and we were expecting once again, full of nerves and excitement this seemed to go along nicely, heartbeat, scans and prospects of our own happy family. We received news that this was not to be the case as our 12 weeks scan showed obvious and gut wrenching problems with our baby. We were sent to specialists for conversations and outlooks on our baby’s future and advised termination was our only option as our little boy was unlikely to survive the pregnancy, the birth or long after birth. We reluctantly accepted our fate and this was the worst time in our lives, which we still struggle to navigate to this day.
Through counselling and being made aware of this charity and what they provide we were able to atleast see a way forwards. We feel now is the time for us to give back. If there is anyway in which you can help us to help others who find themselves in this awful situation then a donation would be greatly appreciated or even sharing this far and wide to people who may be able to help us.
Aching Arms is a charity that gives its comfort bears to hospitals and hospices for midwives and nurses to offer to bereaved parents in their care. Along with the bears, they also offer a support service to parents after their loss, whether it was during pregnancy, at birth or soon after. All donations are gratefully received and will have a big impact in offering comfort and support to bereaved families.
