The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming ‘Home from Home’ where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. But we’re more than bricks and mortar, our friendly, caring staff are there to support families when they really need it.

Without us families would have to travel long distances, sleep in uncomfortable hospital chairs or pay for expensive hotels just to be by their sick child’s hospital bedside. Not only do we alleviate financial worries but we also help the mental wellbeing of the families we support.

Back in August last year, George went through a complex febrile seizure that lasted over an hour. Doctors were extremely close to putting him in an induced coma due to them not being able to control this. They were unsure if his body could handle the extent of his seizure and or the effects this would have had on Georges brain and body with how aggressive his seizure was.

We ended up in ICU and the ward for monitoring.

The sick children’s trust were honestly living angels who provided us comfort at the most difficult time we’ve ever experienced. We did not want to leave George’s side, they provided us with accommodation so we could take it in turns to get rest but also be 5 mins walk down the corridor if needed to get to George quickly.

This charity deserves so much more recognition for all the work they do, so I will be taking part in this event to raise as much awareness and funds that I can ☺️
