28km Trek from Edale to Crowden via Pennine Way - Peak District · 1 September 2023

We believe that being born into poverty does not mean you cannot learn or successfully pass examinations, and it does not mean that you cannot grow up contributing to society and making life better for others. We also believe that education is the key to escape the poverty trap.

Story

Hello All and thanks for visiting our JustGiving page for the Friends of Mombasa Children in Kenya

As some of you are aware we recently had the opportunity to visit Kenya to explore and do all things tourist. Whilst there we were lucky enough to of had the privilege to visit the young Children and Orphans at Unity Freretown School in Mombasa for 2 full days. The whole experience was heartwarming, fulfilling and leaving us wanting to help more,

Now back in the UK and after long deliberation we have decided to push the boundaries with a 28km trek across a tranquil section of the peak district which for those of you that know us, will be a little tougher than our usual Sunday afternoon strolls.

What your donations will provide:

To feed 1 child per day costs just £1/150Kenyan Shillings which gives them a total of 3 meals but more important than that, the nutrients and vitamins they need in order to function, grow and learn.

Furthermore, the kitchen area in which the food is prepared for the 450 children is in need of renovating to which some of the proceeds you kindly donate will go towards giving a more suitable area to prepare these vital meals,

Should you wish to donate purely because you can't believe we'll conquer a 8-9 hour trek or because you simply wish to help these wonderful children, either way we would be truly grateful,

Feel free to click the link below which will give an insight into our time at the school before donating.
