Hey, thanks so much for visiting the page for our fundraiser. We are the University of York Drama Society’s Week 12 ODN - Sharktooth!

Our play, written and directed by Blaise Heywood, assistant directed by Jemima Borrill, and produced by Beth McVicar is a story about family, neurodiversity, and sharks! Here is our plot summary:

“Evie has always known that she’s different. The world feels too loud and bright, and she loves sharks way more than any other 17 year old girl. When the local aquarium’s funding is cut, it’s decided that rescue shark Bubbles will be replaced by a “more normal” animal. Can Evie convince the council, and herself, that ‘different’ doesn’t mean ‘bad’ to save Bubbles before it’s too late?”

Since our play centres heavily around the idea of being an undiagnosed neurodivergent girl, or afab person, specifically with autism and/or ADHD, we would love to use our platform to fundraise for a super important charity, Autistic Girls Network (AGN).

Autistic Girls Network are a small registered charity supporting autistic girls, women, and non-binary people, and campaigning for earlier diagnosis. They have a large, engaged Facebook group, run face to face groups and offer training for education, health and social care professionals, parents and parent carer forums and corporates. They support autistic girls at all stages of diagnosis, including pre-diagnosis, and raise awareness about how differently symptoms present in girls and afab individuals as opposed to boys.
