This year marks 28 years since my daughter and I were placed into a women’s refuge for our safety - shortly after my profile picture was taken.

I am absolutely certain that if I didn’t have the safety and support i received at that time I would not be here to tell my truth all these years later.

I will forever be grateful for the safe haven I was given and the opportunity to rebuild mine and my daughters life.

I’ve previously run a marathon (well half) for Refuge but this time round I will be walking 62 Miles in May for Refuge.

On any given day, Refuge supports thousands of women and their children. Just £15 could provide essentials for a woman arriving at a refuge.

Many arrive with little more than the clothes they are wearing - I had two bags, one for me and one for my daughter.
