I am raising money for The Frederick Foundation.

It was set up in memory of Frederick Esiri and aims to support the acute stroke unit at Ibadan, Nigeria, and to create academic links between Ibadan and Oxford medical schools for mutual benefit in stroke rehabilitation and prevention, service and research.

I was fortunate to work with Professor Margaret Esiri over many years and she continues to inspire me and others with her passion and enthusiasm for research. I was delighted when she invited me to raise money for The Frederick Foundation.

My training runs are getting longer and I'm really looking forward to taking on Edinburgh Marathon for the first time.

It's a beautiful city; I have the advantage of being familiar with half of the course as I've run the half marathon several times and also knowing I can do the distance having done marathons before.

Fingers crossed for the rest of my training and hitting my fund raising target.
