Story
One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
This is the reason why I’m wanting to raise as much money as possible . “ Louise” my dear courageous best friend was a fit 43 year old who loved everything about the outdoor life, had a seizure on 31st Jan 2021. She was taken to hospital which was also during Covid so she was on her own when she was told the devastating news that she had a brain tumour. 2 operations followed in Feb & Nov 2021 alongside chemotherapy & radiotherapy . 6 monthly scans followed until August 2025 when another operation was performed with chemotherapy following . December 2025 brought devastating news of another tumour , a different kind of chemotherapy was given but February 2026 Louise was put on palliative care .
Throughout these last 5 heart breaking years Louise has had such a positive attitude towards this dreadful disease , shining through even on the darkest of days having to endure life changing circumstances .
Currently 37% of people who have a high grade brain tumour die within 5 years & yet it gets 1% of the national spend on cancer . Treatment has not changed for decades , surgery then a combination of chemotherapy & radiotherapy.
Anyone who knows Louise knows just how brave & positive she’s been throughout , never moaning or complaining about how poorly she’s felt , she’s 1 of the most courageous human beings I know
