TAKIN DA PLUNGE FOR VIKING GENES – A DIP A DAY IN NOVEMBER!
Until recently, sea swimming wis something I never towt I wid be brave enough tae do. Thanks tae da encouragement and support of da lovely lasses who regularly swim at da Reawick Beach, I decided tae ‘give it a go’ and I'm so blyde I did - I fairly enjoy it.
So, wir decided to tak things a step further and set ourselves a challenge!
Throughout November, we'll be takin a dip in the sea every single day – dats 30 dips in 30 days!
We're doing this to raise funds for the Viking Genes Shetland Community Screening Project, which aims to offer free genetic screening to 5,000 people in Shetland, enabling the identification of people who are at risk of certain life-threatening diseases. For those affected, the screening will allow early interventions through providing a pathway for treatment through integration with NHS Shetland. The project hopes to help people access appropriate health checks, preventative care and treatment earlier, benefiting individuals, families and future generations.
We keen da November sea temperatures won't mak it easy, but we a bit of determination, plenty of encouragement and hopefully a few smiles along da way, wir ready tae tak da plunge!
If you can spare a few pounds to support wir challenge, we'd be really grateful. Every donation, big or peerie, will help support this important project and mak a difference tae da future health of wir community.
Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
