Row a Marathon on Static Rowing Machine · 16 December 2024

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I’ve no idea why I decided to pick the challenge of sitting on a rowing machine until I've completed a marathon (42195 metres or in old money 26 miles and 385 yards).

However, I do know that I am doing it as my dad Harry has vascular dementia. Physically he has diminished, his understanding of everyday tasks has reduced and he needs constant care provided by a nursing home. We are lucky though as he still knows who we are and occasionally can still be quick witted.

Nearly everyone can tell a similar story about friends or family who have suffered with either Alzheimer’s or Dementia so I thought the least I could do was try and raise some money to help this charity and also put some towards research.

I realise that this is a stupid time of year to ask for donations but appreciate anything you can give to help me reach my target. Thank you.
