As you may know, my London Marathon efforts in 2024 didn't quite go to plan. I had the best run for the first quarter or so and was looking forward to doing it another three times. Then the arch on my foot felt like it collapsed and I couldn't run. Determined to finish, I speed walked the rest as best as I could and finished in just over 6 hours.

It was an incredible experience to be part of such an iconic event however I have some unfinished business. I trained to run the marathon and I still need to do that.

Breakthrough T1D kindly offered me a place, and I'm very proud to be running for such an awesome charity. They focus on type one diabetes which I've lived with for over 30 years, however they also have partnerships with other charities who are helping people with other autoimmune diseases.

Here's why they're doing this:

"As the type 1 diabetes charity, our priority is to prevent type 1 diabetes from happening and find the cure for the 400,000 people living with it in the UK. The Connect Immune Research partnership will help us achieve this faster. It could also allow our partners to prevent and cure a whole range of other autoimmune conditions, which together affect approximately four million people in the UK."

Your donations will help people with type one diabetes, but also many more through this partnership.
