Story
Sometimes life asks more of one person than seems possible.
My very close friend Sharon has already lived through heartbreak that no parent should ever have to face — the sudden passing of her sons.
Then, in December 2025, Sharon was dealt another devastating blow when she was diagnosed with bulbar-onset Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
MND has already taken away something most of us take for granted every single day — Sharon’s ability to speak. Imagine having so much you want to say to the people you love, but no longer being able to say the words.
Yet despite everything Sharon has been through, she is still thinking about other people.
After her diagnosis, one of the things Sharon asked me about was organising a fundraiser for MND. She wanted to do something positive that could help other people and families whose lives are turned upside down by this devastating disease.
I promised Sharon that I would do everything I could.
That promise has now grown into the MND Charity Showcase at The Pheasant, Keyston, on Sunday 30 August 2026 from 2pm.
Singers, entertainers and DJs are donating their time. Local businesses, organisations, radio stations and members of the community are all helping us make this a very special day.
The event is completely free to attend. We simply want people to come together, enjoy the entertainment, raise awareness of MND and, if they can, make a donation.
Sharon has already had to endure more than most people could ever imagine.
We cannot bring her sons back. We cannot currently take MND away from her. But together, we can make sure Sharon’s determination to help others creates something positive and makes a real difference.
Every donation, however large or small, means so much.
If Sharon’s story touches your heart, please donate if you are able and please share this page so we can reach as many people as possible.
Please direct the funds raised through this page to the Cambridgeshire Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Sharon and everyone affected by MND.
