In support of RoadPeace the National Charity for Road Crash Victims, my husband Mike and I will be walking to help raise funds towards the RoadPeace Challenge this year. This charity event is the week of the 15th to the 21st May 2023, this week also being 'Global Road Safety Week'.

Our reason for supporting this charity event, is that in July 2017 our family experienced the worst tragedy ever. Our precious 18 year old daughter Caitlin was tragically killed as a front seat passenger in a fatal road traffic collision on a rural road in Cumbria. In the years since this tragedy of my daughters sudden and preventable death I have been involved with the road safety charity Roadpeace and they have been so helpful and supportive towards me and my family during the worst time of our lives. They support me too with my campaigning for a safer driving licensing system for young novice drivers, more commonly known as a Graduated Driving Licence.

Sadly road traffic collisions are the leading cause of death in the age group of 17-24 year olds in the UK.

For the Roadpeace's Challenge this year, my husband Mike and I are climbing High Street, the highest 'road' in Cumbria. It is the largest of Wainwrights Hills and the Lake District's most famous Roman road. We will be walking on Friday the 19th May, starting at Pooley Bridge on Ullswater and finishing at Windermere. (Approximately 19 miles).

Joining us on our fundraising walk will be members of the emergency services from Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Firefighters, who are the first people at the scene of these horrific road crashes. They know first hand the catastrophic consequences of a road traffic collision.

Please can you help us to raise funds for this much needed charity, Roadpeace. In memory of our daughter Caitlin Lydia Huddleston. Aged 18.
