Story

A cancer diagnosis can feel like the end of the world and that's how it felt in Aug 2023 as my lovely Poppa was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer..

Prostate that has spread to his bones. After disbelief that our seemingly healthy, golf loving dad had such a devastating cancer - he was lucky enough to get on a trial at The Christie. Bloods, bone scans, MRI's, consultations - it's been an incredibly stressful time for my parents, Poppa going through such a barrage of tests and Momma holding the fort and his hand along the way. However, it's a godsend and my pops continues to play golf, go to the football and live his life.

Christies have been fabulous in the way they are treating and caring for my dad and you see it in all the work they do and the support they give.

Added to that, in late 2019 I found myself diagnosed with Skin Cancer and I was under the care of the Royal Marsden - who work with The Christie on such trials that helped my dad. Once again I feel very lucky to have had the care I had and aware that these amazing places are constantly working to find treatments.

Cancer affects everyone and every family, so any money at all that might help nurse or support people who are suffering is much needed.

So this is my first - and probably my last - half marathon [!!] to raise money for a phenomenal place. Please if you can spare a few quid - in lieu of a coffee or a pint..? I'd be ever so so grateful

Finally... I've done virtually no training as have a very needy puppy who won't let me sleep or leave the flat.. so who knows if i'll make it 'round.. but here goes i guess....
