Great North Run 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·

The Great North Run needs no introduction. As one of the most iconic Half Marathons in the UK, we want our team of Roy's Runners to hit the streets and raise both awareness and money so the UK's Lung Cancer Patients can expect better.

Story

Please help my fundraising along with anything that you feel is doable or affordable, even just £1 would be amazing, I know times are tight and people are feeling the pinch, I know I am. But honestly absolutely anything would be very greatfully received and is going to a fantastic cause. Thank you for reading my story and donating.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

As some of you probably know, my Dad was recently diagnosed with Lung cancer, and what I've really learned from that is just how strong he is and how determined he is to beat this truly awful disease. It's been difficult watching someone who in my eyes is invincible struggle at times to get to the end of the garden let alone anything else. The treatment hasn't been without its hurdles, some smaller ones and some really big ones. But as a family we're banding together and fighting hard because we just have too.

I wasn't planning on doing anything like this, but when I saw the link pop up on my Facebook page for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, it wasn't even a decision to be made, I signed up straight away. I've struggled with injuries for what seems like forever but when you step back and put things into perspective actually is a sore Achilles tendon and probably a pulled calf muscle or two along the way really that bad?! It certainly doesn't seem like it anymore, which is why I'm more determined than ever to train hard and ultimately run the biggest half marathon in the world 10 years after I said never again - The Great North Run 2024 on 8th September 2024 - all to raise as much money as possible for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation; £500 in total! Hopefully this will help even just one more person not have to go through what my Dad is currently fighting, because that seems like a race worth winning to me!
