Shaun's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Research UK

10 Marathons in 10 Days · 1 May 2025
Starting on May 1st, I’ll be running (not racing!) 10 trail marathons in 10 consecutive days, carrying all my kit, plodding through mud, up hills, and through whatever the great British weather throws at me.
I’m doing this in memory of my lovely mother-in-law, Mary Lindsell, who we sadly lost to Alzheimer’s. It’s a cruel disease that touches millions of families, mine included, and I want to do something meaningful that might help bring us closer to a cure.
I’ll be setting off from Bowness-on-Solway, running the Hadrian’s Wall route, then winding my way back home via trails, paths, and the occasional road. The final stretch will be on Saturday 10th May, from Skipton to home, followed, hopefully, by a few celebratory drinks!
I’ve aimed to make each day exactly 26.2 miles, but thanks to hotel locations (and my excellent sense of direction), some days will be longer. Never shorter though. If I come up short, I’ll be doing laps of a car park until my watch agrees it's a marathon.
For the first four days, I’ve got a friend running with me. After that, it’s just me, my bag, and many solo miles.
If you can spare a few pounds, it would mean the world. Your donation will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK, helping fund vital work into preventing, treating, and one day curing this devastating disease.
Thank you so much for your support.
