Help Swindon Pickleball Build Two Pickleball Courts in Lesotho
Swindon Pickleball is raising funds to help install two dedicated pickleball courts in the Kingdom of Lesotho, working alongside the incredible team at Kick4Life and their existing sports and community facilities in the capital, Maseru.
Our aim is to have the courts completed ahead of Shaun's return visit as part of the 2028 Allstars Tour, creating a lasting legacy that will introduce one of the world's fastest-growing sports to a new generation of players.
Who are Swindon Pickleball?
Swindon Pickleball started as a small local group and has grown into a large active pickleball community. The club provides regular playing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, helping to improve physical health, mental wellbeing and social connections through sport.
As the sport continues to grow, Swindon Pickleball is committed not only to developing the game locally but also to supporting communities further afield through international projects and charitable fundraising.
Why Lesotho?
Lesotho, often known as the "Mountain Kingdom", is a beautiful landlocked country surrounded entirely by South Africa. Despite its stunning scenery and strong sense of community, many young people face significant challenges, including poverty, unemployment and limited access to sporting opportunities.
For Swindon Pickleball, this project is also deeply personal. Shaun first visited Lesotho through Kick4Life and has returned on several occasions as part of fundraising and volunteer initiatives. Each visit has strengthened his connection with the country, its people and the life-changing work being carried out by Kick4Life.
Having seen first-hand the difference that sport can make to young people's lives, Shaun wanted to find a way to leave a lasting sporting legacy beyond football. Introducing pickleball to Lesotho offers an opportunity to create something new, accessible and inclusive that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities.
The hope is that these courts will become a permanent part of the local sporting landscape, providing opportunities for recreation, competition and community engagement long after they are built.
By introducing pickleball to Lesotho, we hope to provide a fun, inclusive activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages whilst strengthening the relationship between Swindon Pickleball, Kick4Life and the communities they serve.
About Kick4Life
Kick4Life is an award-winning charity, social enterprise and football club based in Maseru, Lesotho. Since being founded in 2005, the organisation has helped hundreds of thousands of children and young people through programmes focused on education, health, employability, gender equality and community development. Their innovative model combines sport with social impact, using football as a tool to create positive change and brighter futures. In 2025, Kick4Life received the prestigious Laureus Sport for Good Award in recognition of its outstanding work.
The organisation operates from the Kick4Life Centre and Stadium of Life, which provide sporting, educational and community facilities for local people.
Supporting the 2028 Allstars Tour
This fundraising page will also support Shaun's participation in the 2028 Allstars Tour to Lesotho.
The Allstars Tour brings together volunteers and supporters from across the world to experience the work of Kick4Life first-hand, helping to raise awareness and vital funds for the charity's programmes. By returning to Lesotho in 2028, Shaun hopes to see the completed pickleball courts in use, assist with introducing the sport to local communities and continue supporting the outstanding work being carried out by Kick4Life.
Funds raised through this page will therefore be used to support both the installation of the two pickleball courts and the costs associated with delivering the 2028 visit, ensuring that the project can be developed, promoted and supported on the ground.
Any surplus funds remaining after tour costs have been met will be directed towards the pickleball court project and associated equipment, helping maximise the impact of every donation received.
Whether you donate £5 or £500, you will be helping create a lasting sporting legacy and opening the door to new opportunities for young people and communities in Lesotho.
Together, let's take pickleball from Swindon to the Mountain Kingdom and leave something behind that will benefit generations to come.
Thank you for helping make this vision a reality.
