Story
My husband, Shay, was the most wonderful man—gentle, kind, fun, and full of life. When he was diagnosed with cancer, our whole world fell apart. We endured a devastating rollercoaster of hope followed by despair. The treatments were gruelling and exhausting, but Shay faced it all with incredible strength and grace. When we were given the terminal prognosis, we were completely devastated, heartbroken, and lost. That’s when the North London Hospice stepped in and became our lifeline.
They provided unparalleled support and care for Shay in his final days, and for me as well. They moved mountains to ensure he could have a peaceful end to his life, and their bereavement services were a lifeline for me after Shay passed away.
On October 9th, just after the second anniversary of his passing, I am doing a firewalk. I’m not a brave person, and the idea of walking over hot coals is scary, but losing Shay was truly terrifying. This is my way of honouring the immense courage Shay showed throughout his illness. This challenge is my tribute to him and a way to ensure North London Hospice can continue to be a light for other families facing the unimaginable.
How We're Making a Difference
Your support for my firewalk for Shay has been incredible, and we have officially exceeded our £750 goal! Thanks to your amazing generosity, we have already raised an incredible £770. Because of this momentum, we have set a new, ambitious target of £1,500!
We can collectively make a difference. Every donation, no matter how small, helps North London Hospice continue its vital work. Here are a few examples of what our money could do:
£1,000 could fund over 130 nourishing home-made meals for a patient on the Inpatient Unit.
£1,470 could pay for eight full days of care from a Registered Nurse on the Inpatient Unit.
£1,771 could help fund a week of patient psychotherapy services.
£1,980 could fund 66 hours of physiotherapy for patients.
No donation is too small. Please give what you can to help North London Hospice continue its vital work.
If you can't donate right now, you can still help by sharing this page with your friends, family, and colleagues. The more people who see this, the more money we can raise for the hospice.
Thank you.
