For the second year running, I’m taking part in the Bedford Running Festival alongside my amazing work family at Bedford College to raise funds for Bedford Giving, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people across Bedford Borough.

This year, I’m stepping up from the 5K and taking on the half marathon. It will be my first half marathon since returning to running after a 10-month break following a diagnosis of a high-risk stress fracture in my tibia. Recovery has been a long and challenging journey, with plenty of setbacks along the way, but I am determined to cross that finish line and raise as much money as possible for a cause that makes such a meaningful difference.

What makes Bedford Giving so special is that 100% of the funds raised go directly towards programmes supporting young people. Their work is research-led, with young people's voices at the heart of everything they do, ensuring support is shaped by the needs and aspirations of those it serves.

One of their programmes provides career mentoring for young people, helping them build confidence and unlock opportunities for their future. The impact can be life-changing, as one parent shared:
