Story
SheSings to tackle Bed Poverty.
We are SheSings, a female voice choir based in Wakefield, and we're coming together for a special festive gig on 22nd December at The Hop! This event aims to raise funds for The Children's Bed Appeal, an initiative run by the Wakefield Community Foundation, helping local families ensure that every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep. Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference in our community. Thank you for supporting our cause and spreading warmth this winter! 🩵❤️💙
The Wakefield Community Foundation is working with partners to run The Wakefield Children's Bed Appeal to tackle "bed poverty" in our district - the fact that thousands of children are going to bed without a proper bed of their own. It's estimated that around 6,000 children in the Wakefield District do not have a bed to sleep in each night. The appeal was started because a bed is more than just furniture: it affects a child's health, emotional wellbeing, school attendance and ability to thrive. For example, a donation of £150 can fully cover a new bed, mattress, bedding and pyjamas for one child in need. By supporting our gig, you're joining us in helping every child in our community get the rest they deserve.
