Story
I have chosen to raise funds for The PMDD Project in memory of my amazing friend, Kirsty Mearns. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder affects 1 in 20 individuals assigned female at birth who experience periods. It is an immensely debilitating condition that affects individuals like Kirsty and myself as well as many others for 1-2 weeks before their period. It affects your ability to function during this time and has significant adverse effects on your ability to attend work, maintain relationships and undertake self care. Thoughts and feelings are so extreme that you don’t recognise yourself or feel in control of your life.
Kirsty fought so bravely against this horrendous condition, but sadly lost her battle in December 2025. The world grew darker that day.
I was diagnosed with PMDD in 2022 after 30 years of battling with it, including several attempts on my own life. I had to fight for my diagnosis. Kirsty had to fight for treatment. It’s not good enough! I want to help The PMDD Project in their mission to shine a light on this condition and raise much needed awareness and funds for research and support .
Please help me so we can help others when they need that help most, before it’s too late.
