Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.

As you all know I am rubbish at running and a half marathon will be twice as far as I have ever run in my life. But it’s for a good cause….

As less of you know, in 1993 (crikey I am old) I had a serious and major heart operation arising from what was called ‘hole in the heart’ back in the day. Keyhole surgery didn’t exist, Jackie George went grey over night & the 8 hour operation required all my major organs to be moved or shut down (this is not the correct medical terminology).

My physiotherapy and recovery was long & painful (I’m now really good at blowing up balloons though as they were the best physio to get my lungs back in working order).

The BHF supported my surgery and recovery and ultimately saved my life. I am hoping to save others by raising awareness and pennies for them. Here’s some generic stuff about what other brilliant research & work they are doing. Please give whatever you can - every penny counts. And send me ALL the luck in the world please :)

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
