Thanks for taking the time to visit May's JustGiving page. May was the carer for her husband, Davis, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2009. May was devoted to caring for Davis, but this left her with very little time for managing her own health and well-being.

May's first contact with the Enfield Caribbean Association (ECA) was when they reached out to her during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. They provided a lifeline of support during what was a particularly difficult time for elderly people, especially for May who had to care for Dave alone. May and Dave had hot Caribbean meals delivered by the ECA, as well as food parcels and other essentials.

When Davis moved into residential care in 2022, May started to regularly attend the ECA, enthusiastically joining in with the activities and events on offer. At the ECA May made new friends and reconnected with old friends. The ECA became an important part of May's social life and greatly bolstered her well-being.

The ECA describes itself as a 'small charity, with big ideas'. It works to ensure that Enfield’s Caribbean Community is fully informed about services it needs, including advocacy, support, befriending, and social and cultural activities. The ECA has an ambitious programme of activities to support the Caribbean community, particularly the elderly, and with your donation it can continue as a force for good works. With the ECA, May felt valued, supported and part of a community once more.
