Story
In a moment of weakness (or very clever peer pressure), my Dell colleagues convinced me to join them for a 50km walk. Yes – 50km. On purpose!
Our team is proudly called The Dell Trotters, which is fitting because I’ll be trotting, hobbling and possibly crawling my way to the finish. I’m not exactly known for my speed. My walking pace is basically plodding, and I’m genuinely unsure whether my legs or feet will make it.
To give myself half a chance, I’ve been training since February, sacrificing plenty of weekend lay-ins in favour of early morning walks. I’ve even bought a membership at Virginia Water just to save on the car parking charges while I train! So far, my longest walk has been 20 miles, although the recent hot weather and life in general has put a bit of a brake on my progress.
Despite all that, I know the 50km challenge will be tough. But it’s all for Dementia UK – an incredible cause that’s worth every blister, aching muscle, moment of regret and dramatic sigh along the route.
If you’re able to support me with a donation, I’d be hugely grateful. Every pound raised will help Dementia UK continue supporting families facing one of life’s toughest challenges. Thank you!
