Solo Marathon

The Survivors Trust is the largest membership organisation for specialist rape and sexual abuse services in the UK. We aim to support and empower survivors of rape, sexual violence and/or childhood sexual abuse.

Story

Running a marathon is an incredibly tough accomplishment that takes immense bravery and strength you didn't know you were capable of.

I would like to give back to this incredible organisation by raising as much money as I can, raising their profile and making people aware of the important role that ISVA's play and how invaluable they are. I honestly could not have done what I did without them.

Finding the strength to come forward, report and put yourself through the criminal justice system, is one of the scariest, most daunting yet empowering things a victim will ever do, and the whole thing can feel like a marathon....so the best way I can think of how to reinforce the importance of the support I received when going through what I did, is to run a marathon all by myself (bloody hell haha)

Fingers crossed I can make it over the finish line!

The issue of sexual assault and harassment in the UK music industry remains a significant concern. Despite efforts to address this pervasive problem, reports continue to emerge, highlighting a culture of abuse and exploitation within the industry. Victims often face barriers to reporting incidents, including fear of retaliation, disbelief, and a lack of support systems. It is imperative for all stakeholders, including artists, record labels, venues, and policymakers, to collaborate and implement robust measures to prevent and address sexual assault and harassment effectively. This includes fostering a safe and respectful environment, providing comprehensive support for survivors, and holding perpetrators accountable through proper investigation and legal action. Ultimately, addressing this issue requires a collective commitment to fostering a culture of respect, equality, and accountability within the UK music industry.

Every five minutes in the UK someone experiences rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault by penetration.

15% of girls and 5% of boys have experienced sexual violence by the time they are sixteen.

The Survivors Trust is the only UK and Ireland-wide umbrella agency for specialist organisations supporting all survivors of rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse. Their core aim is to ensure that society supports all survivors effectively and takes responsibility for ending sexual violence. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today!
