Bodhi’s Story – From Mum, Kirstin
Bodhi was born at the very start of 2024, and we learned he had Down syndrome when he was just five days old. The first few weeks were a whirlwind—daunting, emotional, and full of uncertainty. I remember feeling an overwhelming need to connect with other parents who understood what we were going through.
After Bodhi was discharged from hospital, we found Stepping Stones DS, and it felt like a lifeline. From that first contact, I was filled with relief, knowing we had found local support for us and Bodhi.
Since then, our family has been embraced by a community of warmth and understanding. We’ve attended early development classes, where Bodhi has thrived, and I’ve connected with other parents and carers at Stay & Play sessions. We’re also excited to join the new movement classes!
Bodhi is now almost one year old—a cheeky, strong, determined, and beautiful little boy. This year has been one of the hardest yet most rewarding of our lives. Thanks to Stepping Stones DS, our family has not only found support but also hope. They’ve helped us embrace Bodhi’s future, knowing he has every opportunity to fulfil his potential.
As we celebrate Bodhi’s first Christmas, we’re so grateful to Stepping Stones DS for being part of our journey.
