So 9 of us have decided to put 10,000 steps a day to the test and on 31 May 2024, we will complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge - climbing the 3 highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.

But it’s all for a cause that is close to my heart. Pardada Pardadi Educational Society is a charity that has been set up in Anupshahr, a village outside of New Delhi, India, with an inspirational aim to better the lives of the underprivileged girls and women within that region. The charity has a school for the girls to provide them with education that they would otherwise never receive, with many of these girls cycling vast distances just to attend school. It also provides various programmes for the women to teach them practical skills and about the importance of financial independence. They aim to place these women in jobs to economically empower them and provide them with opportunities that would otherwise be unimaginable to them and their lives.

I have seen first hand the impact that this charity has on the community. In 2018 I taught at the school and whilst I was there, a couple of the girls received scholarships to the USA on the back of the education they received at Pardada Pardadi. As of today, over 4,000 girls have gone through the schooling system, with around 100 girls graduating each year and the number continuously rising as the school expands.

These girls and women are amongst some of the hardest working people I have met and their dedication to achieve and break free from their circumstances is beyond admirable.

£120 - provides a tablet for the girls to use in the classroom
