Shona's fundraiser for The Baton of Hope UK

Shona Cannings is raising money for The Baton of Hope UK

Baton of Hope 2025 - North Lincolnshire · 15 September 2025

We have a vision of a society where suicide and suicide prevention are openly and widely discussed, where we inspire hope through action, where people are suitably supported and where everyone plays their part in realising this vision

Story

I am very privileged to taking part in the Baton of Hope Tour 2025 as a Baton Bearer. I have been selected to carry the baton as part of a UK wide relay, that will bring together those who have been affected by suicide. I will be representing all of those who have died by suicide, survived a suicide attempt and those bereaved by suicide and I would be very grateful for any donations you can give to help support the mission of Baton of Hope UK in standing up to suicide.

THERE IS HOPE. IF MORE PEOPLE TALK OPENLY ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE, SPOT THE SIGNS, ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS, AND LISTEN WITHOUT JUDGEMENT, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

This is the message I hope to promote with the young people I meet through Scouting as well as promoting the benefits of volunteering on mental health.

I have a big birthday in August and would like to ask anyone who would have sent me a card or bought me a drink to consider making a small donation to the Baton of Hope instead - every penny can make a difference
