Shona & Sam's fundraiser for National FASD

Shona Burnie is raising money for National FASD

National Three Peaks Challenge 2026 · 2 July 2026 to 4 July 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

National FASD's mission is to educate, raise awareness and take action to prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and to support people with FASD and their carers. We provide education about the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy to prevent lifelong brain injury and other disabilities.

Story

This challenge is deeply personal. In 2024, after years of searching, I was incredibly fortunate to locate my birth brother, Scott, who was adopted at birth and lives with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Getting to know Scott and recognising so many similarities between him and another of my brothers has helped me to better understand my own family story and the lifelong impact of FASD.

FASD is often misunderstood and under-recognised, yet it affects individuals and families in profound ways. Through connecting with Scott, I've seen firsthand how important awareness, early support, and education are not only for the families and individuals of those living with FASD, but for society as a whole.

Thats why Sam & I are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge together. We're raising funds to support the National FASD Charity in their vital work to educate, advocate and provide resources for those living with FASD and those who support them. Sam & I are committed to turning every step of this journey and together we want to turn a physical challenge into something that creates real, lasting impact.

Every donation helps spread understanding, reduce stigma, and ensure the individuals like Scott get the recognition and support they deserve. We truly appreciate all of your support with our cause.
