Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Friends of Enable, a group of people touched by sepsis, working with sepsis survivors or just helping to raise awareness of sepsis, is cycling from Bristol to Bath (some via the Two Tunnels route) in support of UK Sepsis Trust on 11th September 2024 just before World Sepsis Day. This is an inclusive event: experienced and less-experienced cyclists will be covering different distances. At the core are medical negligence lawyers from Enable Law (who regularly act for sepsis survivors) joined by friends and colleagues from different areas of life and work. UK Sepsis Trust is an impressive charity which has made a real difference in promoting early recognition and good management of sepsis.

Every year in the UK, sepsis kills at least 48,000 people, with better awareness thousands of these lives could be saved. Many survivors face life-long disability.

Thank you for your support and donations which will make a difference.
