Hey everyone,

This April I will be running the Manchester marathon for Velindre where my dad is currently receiving cancer treatment. Since dad has been diagnosed with cancer in January 2024 Velindre has supported our family through the journey and dad through all of his ongoing treatment. Dad has already gone through 2 major surgeries, 30 sessions of radiotherapy, 4 rounds of chemotherapy. I hope that by running the Manchester marathon I will raise some money to support this local charity and it would be a perfect opportunity to give back for the support they have provided my family, and dad.

Velindre, the Hospital of Hope has been providing specialist treatment and supportive care to cancer patients and families for over 65 years.

The Money raised for Velindre Charity helps fund ground breaking research and clinical trials, cutting edge treatments, specialist nurses, support services, therapies, equipment and so much more which are above those provided by the NHS – so donations really do have a significant impact on patients and their families.

Currently the idea of running 26.2 miles feels impossible but knowing that the donations will allow Velindre to continue to make differences to patients lives, including dads, only motivates and encourages me more !!
