Story
Hi I'm Sid and when I was 19 I was diagnosed with 3 mental health conditions:
- OCD
- Depression
- Social Anxiety
As you read this, I am currently running 300 miles across the UK.
100 miles for OCD.
100 miles for Depression.
100 miles for Anxiety.
I'm doing this during what is currently suicide prevention month, so I have chosen to raise money for Samaritans, a 24/7 helpline for anyone who is struggling mentally (Call 116 123).
I have chosen to do this challenge completely alone. No support team, no help along the way, just me and my thoughts. This is because I want it to symbolise the battles we all go through on our own. And even though it might feel like we're alone, we never truly are.
And while for the next 3 weeks or so I will 'feel' alone, I will know I'm not alone, I have my communities on Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook following along to be with me every step of the way.
I will be running 'my journey'. Starting at the hosptial where I was born, and making my way across the UK to locations that have had significant meaning / impact in my life, to signify how everyone's story is personal to them.
I hope to inspire people. Inspire people to overcome their own personal challenges and struggles, no matter how little or large they may be, and prove to you that things DO get better.
Oh, and I'll be doing it with my mental health teddy (Quack) alongside me too.
See you at the finish line <3
Sid (@sidbatty) x
