Step Out 2026
Campaign by Beat (RCN 801343)
This June, we’re asking you to Step Out on a walk and join a community walking together to support recovery and raise awareness of eating disorders.

Story

I’m Sienna I’m 19 years old and I’m fundraising for the charity Beat. I am currently in recovery from anorexia after battling with it for nearly 2 years. After being admitted into general hospital in a critical condition with my liver and nearly losing my life due to the impacts of anorexia. Then going into residential treatment which was very tough but life saving. I’m now wanting to give back and help others who are going through this awful mental illness and other eating disorders. Everyone deserves access to help no matter what.

Anorexia is such a cruel illness and takes away everything even though it makes you feel like it’s the only way to cope and is the best thing for you. It controls every aspect of your life and destroys you physically and mentally. Words can’t describe what it’s like living with it and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Each day is tough in recovery but I’m knowing it’s a day closer to being free from this disorder. Recovering to gain freedom, my personality back, health, happiness and to also be there for friends and family.

I’ll be walking throughout the week 22-28th June at safe distances for my physical health due to being in recovery. Any donations would be appreciated to help this charity and all people struggling with eating disorders which I feel really passionately about.

The charity was founded in 1989 as the Eating Disorders Association, our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. Eating disorders have the highest death rate out of all mental illnesses with 1 death every 52 minutes. It is estimated at least 1.25 million people in the UK have an eating disorder. Eating disorders still are so misunderstood and undereducated in healthcare industries, schools and the government. Thank you so much for supporting our fundraisers to spread awareness, raise funds and change lives. From helplines to online workshops and chatrooms, they are on a mission to end the pain caused by eating disorders by providing support and bringing people together to ensure that recovery is possible. Every pound raised helps improve the lives of people affected by eating disorders, as well as those who support them. Thank You 💜
