Silas's fundraiser for Addicts to Athletes

Silas Keeling is raising money for Addicts to Athletes

Ironman Thun · 5 July 2026

We help those who suffer with addiction and/or mental health, to find freedom using fitness. By providing free fitness sessions, we aim to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of the people who work with us. Change is possible, and we'll be there every step of the way.

Story

Addiction is a cruel condition. It destroys lives and, unlike many other diseases, it often targets those who are already suffering. On top of the physical and emotional impact, it carries an unfair stigma—a culture of blame, both from society and from the individuals experiencing it. People are frequently spoken about as though they have chosen addiction, rather than being recognised as individuals caught in a complex and damaging cycle.

Addicts to Athletes is a charity working to challenge this stigma. Their focus is on offering community, structure, and a healthier outlet for those rebuilding their lives—helping people shift from isolation to connection, and from shame to purpose.

This is personal to me. I’ve seen family and friends struggle in the past and some that still struggle today, and I’ve also experienced how much staying physically active has helped me navigate difficult periods in my own life. The work this charity does resonates deeply because I know, first-hand, how powerful movement and community can be for healing.
