Almost two and a half weeks to go until this tremendous challenge—driving 874 miles in under 24 hours from John O’Groats to Land’s End—alongside nine other Rover 75s and MGs, all in support of an incredible charity dedicated to male suicide prevention.

This is about more than the miles. It’s about breaking down the stigma around men’s mental health.

In 2025 alone, according to latest national statistics 5,728 suicides were registered in England, with the highest rates in the South West and the lowest in London. Right now, male suicide rates remain around three times higher than for women. But statistics only tell part of the story. What they don’t show is the quiet weight so many men carry—the loneliness, the sense of not belonging, the feeling that there’s no one they can truly speak to who would understand.

For too long, men have been shaped by expectations to stay guarded, to carry everything alone, to prove strength through silence and responsibility. Over time, that pressure can quietly erode wellbeing. When vulnerability is mistaken for weakness, it leaves very little space to breathe—and even less space to truly connect.

That’s why organisations like ANDYSMANCLUB matter so much. They offer safe, local, face-to-face spaces that are free and peer-to-peer—no hierarchy, no judgement, just men supporting men. And that word “safe” is meant in the deepest, most genuine sense. A place where you can show up exactly as you are, speak openly, or simply sit and not feel alone.

On a personal note—I'm raising a teenage son. And I would never want to live in a world where a mother has to bury her child because he felt he had nowhere to turn. No one should suffer in silence. No one should feel that alone.
